Continuing Education

Naturopathic doctors are required to obtain forty CE credits per biennial licensing cycle, five of which must be in pharmacology.  One hour of credit is earned for every fifty minutes of approved continuing education.

Naturopathic doctors who have obtained endorsement to prescribe - both limited and independently - must obtain five hours of continuing education annually in pharmacology of testosterone and legend drugs.  This requirement is not waived under the below exceptions.

Credits must meet Board approval.   Examples include credits offered through the AANP, AANP state affiliates, and regionally accredited/DOE recognized Universities and Colleges.

Compliance is verified by random audit.

The following licensees are not subject to the general CE requirements:

  1. Naturopaths who are enrolled in a full time graduate naturopathic medical education program (residencies and fellowships)
  2. Naturopaths who hold a provisional temporary license and naturopaths who have not renewed their license for the first time since being granted a regular permanent license by the Board.
  3. Naturopaths who have retired and withdrawn from the active practice of medicine.  Any naturopath seeking to be placed on retired status thus being excused from completing continuing naturopathic education requirements under this subsection must email a completed affidavit to the Board certifying that the naturopath will render no further naturopathic services.

You can upload and document your CE credits through your licensing dashboard.
